Why is the total at the bottom of the report different from that in row 42 in the excel sheet?

The total at the bottom of the report is simply a total of the hours recorded on the Smart TAC. It does not take into considerations the number of hours that the employee is entitled to work, overtime allowed and so on. The total in row 42 looks at all the parameters and tells the administrator how many hours the employee should be paid for according to his/her personal details.

Do I need the employee cards to change their details?

You do not need the employee cards to make most changes in the employee details. Changes in names, salaries, overtime, working hours do not require the employee card to be inserted. The only changes that require the employee cards are changes in the card number, or display name.
